DECATUR OFFICER DIES OFF DUTY — Decatur Police Department Officer Rudopho Arizola, 40, of Decatur passed away Monday evening after experiencing a medical emergency at the QuikTrip in Decatur. Arizola was off duty at the time of his passing. Decatur Police Chief Delvon Campbell described Arizola as someone who was dedicated to the profession of policing. “His servant heart and humor made him an officer that everyone wanted to be around,” Campbell said. “He cared for people and wanted to be a difference maker.” A memorial service for Arizola is pending. “As we mourn the loss of Officer Arizola, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and loved ones,” Decatur PD said in a post on Facebook. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time of grief and loss. We ask that their privacy be respected as they navigate through this challenging period.”

ANOTHER RAINY DAY — Showers and possibly thunderstorms are expected today with rain chances at 70 percent. Otherwise it will be cloudy with a north northwest wind 5-10 mph increasing to 15-20 mph in the afternoon with gusts as high as 30 mph. Rain chances should decrease this evening. Today’s high will be around 61 with an overnight low of 48.

BASEBALL RESULTS — Bridgeport (4-8, 2-5) suffered a 4-1 District 8-4A loss to Castleberry Tuesday.

MEDICARE CLASS — A Medicare 101 class is offered the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. at the Redeemer Church, 312 Texas 114 in Bridgeport. For more information or to RSVP call John Ward at 940-210-0978.

TRASH BASH — The Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) will host the Lake Bridgeport Trash Bash 8-10 a.m. Saturday in the communities surrounding the lake. The annual cleanup event will provide volunteers a chance to remove unsightly trash and debris surrounding the lake. Prior to the event, volunteers will be provided trash bags and gloves in order to safely collect the trash. Participants can pick up trash throughout the morning, and then attend the Trash Bash Volunteer After-Party from 10 a.m.-noon at Lakefront Beach across from TRWD’s Lake Bridgeport Office, 1560 FM 1658 in Bridgeport. MOBILE FOOD PANTRY — First Methodist Church Bridgeport will have its mobile food pantry 8-9:30 a.m. Thursday. Cars can begin to line up in the Bridgeport Middle School parking lot at 7:30 a.m. Food is provided for 275 families each month, with some kind of meat, along with vegetables and fruit available. Volunteers are always welcome to help distribute food and meet at 7 a.m. in the First Methodist Church parking lot. Contact Denise Bailey at 940-257-3578.
