1 HURT IN FRIDAY WRECK — A Decatur man was transported to Wise Health System with non-life threatening injuries after a two-vehicle wreck Friday evening. According to Decatur Police Chief Delvon Campbell, the wreck occurred at about 7:30 p.m. A 2020 Honda PCX motorcycle driven by Albert Madden, 63, was traveling on Farm Road 51 south, near the intersection of Preskitt Road. “Madden failed to control his speed as he approached the intersection,” Campbell said. Madden lost control of the motorcycle, striking a 2014 Buick Enclave driven by Peggy Reeves, 88 of Decatur, and a 1997 Chevy pickup driven by Melinda Gasperson, 61 of Decatur. According to Campbell, Reeves and Gasperson were uninjured.
HOT START TO THE WEEK — Temperatures are expected to hit triple digits for the third day in a row today. Temperatures topped out at 102 Saturday and 105 Sunday at Decatur Municipal Airport. Today’s high is expected to be 100.

RHOME FIRE CHIEF RETIRING — Rhome Fire Chief Darrell Fitch has announced his retirement June 30. He has been a member of the Rhome Volunteer Fire Department for eight years and in the fire service for more than 20 years.

MEDICARE CLASS — The Decatur Public Library will host Wes Carter, Medicare benefits advisor for a free Medicare class noon Tuesday. Carter will explain Medicare, benefits, and do’s and don’ts. Call the library at 940-393-0290.

COLLEGE REGISTRATION — Registration is open for the second summer session at Weatherford College Wise County. Classes will begin July 13 and run through Aug. 18. Call 940-627-2690 for more information or visit www.wc.edu to register. Register early to make sure you get the classes you need.

DECATUR CITY COUNCIL — The Decatur City Council tonight will consider and take action on hiring an architect for the new police station and awarding bids for the new water tower and the water sewer line project.

PARADISE TRAFFIC ALERT — Farm Road 3259 will be closed north of Texas 114 in Paradise 7 a.m.-5 p.m. today for railroad maintenance work. Traffic will be detoured.
