Robert Earl Hamm

Boyd ~ Robert Earl Hamm, 87, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, April 10, 2021, in Boyd.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd with burial to follow at Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour (10 to 11 a.m.) prior to service.

Dr. Joe Wooddell of Fort Worth and Pastor Josh Fowler of Trinity Baptist Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Darren Henry, Daniel Henry, Travis Hamm, Kevin Barnes Jr., Keaton Barnes and Kevin Barnes Sr.

Robert was born Aug. 20, 1933, to Robert Edgar Hamm and Bertha Bell (Harrington) Hamm at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

Robert joined the United States Air Force at age 18, where he proudly served his country for the next 20 years. Early in his Air Force service, he met and married Linda Knight of Illinois. He traveled extensively in his Air Force career to places like Greenland, India, Japan and his final overseas deployment to Vietnam before his retirement in 1972.

The final phase of his work career began in 1972 when he began working for International Harvester in the truck division. He began work as a truck mechanic and worked through the ranks to assistant shop foreman. He was employed with them for 25 years.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife Linda Hamm, mother of his children; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Albert Clausen; brother Jimmy R. Hamm; and brother Richard A. Hamm.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 22 years, Charlotte Hamm of Boyd; his son, Robert E. Hamm, Jr. and wife, Anne, of Comfort; his son, Jimmy R. Hamm of Fort Worth and Port Aransas; his daughter, Tina Barnes and husband, Kevin, of Weatherford; his daughter, Lisa K. Hamm of Weatherford; one granddaughter, Crystal Ehart and husband, Randy, of Fort Worth; his grandchildren, Travis Hamm of Haslet, Darren Henry of Fort Worth, Daniel Henry and wife, Brittany and great-granddaughter Berkley, Kevin Barnes Jr., Keaton Barnes, and Kyle Barnes and husband, Daniel Myers, of Portland, Ore.; and numerous nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Solaris Hospice, Decatur, solarisfamily.com and South Wise Services Food Pantry, P.O. Box 217, Boyd, TX 76023. Special thanks to Kelli Schlosberg, Robert’s very special hospice nurse who took care of him for the past year.
