1924-2024

Lee

Graveside services for Inez “Nana” Lee, 100, of Paradise is to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, for family and friends at Paradise Cemetery.

Inez “Nana” Lee passed away at her home surrounded by her beloved family, on March 22, 2024, at the age of 100 years old. She was born on March 15, 1924, in Marked Tree, Arkansas, to Luther Carel and Beulah (Webber) Lillard. On Dec. 29, 1941, in Tyronza, Arkansas she was united in marriage to Thurman Bradley Lee from Paradise and traveled across the south for her husband’s career. In 1949, they bought a farm in Paradise so that their only child, Thurma Gail Lee, could begin her education. Inez spent her days being a housewife, cattle farmer, and raising their daughter. After her husband, Thurman passed away in 1965, she began traveling visiting her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and visiting family in Arkansas. At that time, she started working at The Lorch Company in Decatur, from which she retired. However, because Nana had a strong work ethic, she then began working for her granddaughter and her husband tending to the Mini Storage in Bridgeport and did not retire from there until she was 92.

Inez was an avid Paradise Panther volunteer and supporter. She could always be found in the stands wearing green and cheering for her grand and great-grandchildren. She was even given the esteemed title of “#1 Paradise Panther Fan”, by many of the coaches throughout the years. Whenever she wasn’t at the children’s sporting events, she enjoyed watching her favorite baseball team, the Texas Rangers or just spending time with her family.

As many know, Inez became a centenarian just a few weeks ago and this major milestone was celebrated with her family by her side. Inez was known for her independence, care for others, mobility, and superb memory. In fact, many thought she easily could have been a “Wise County Historian”. Inez’s warm smile, gentle presence, and acceptance of everyone will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace knowing she was truly loved and appreciated during her time with us.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Gail Lee Read and husband, Harold; granddaughter, Holly Berry and husband, Wendell Jr.; grandson, Lance Moody and wife, Shanna; great-grandchildren, Connor and Caiden Berry, Taylor and Brayden Ford, and Jayden and Bexley Moody; along with a host of friends and family.

Inez is preceded in death by her husband, parents, all six siblings, and great-grandson Logan Bradley Moody.
