Early voting begins MondayFree Access


It’s almost time to cast your vote on a number of local races and propositions.

Early voting for the May 4 city and school elections begins Monday, April 22 and continues each weekday through Tuesday, April 30. Polls will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Both early voting and election day voting locations will depend on where you live, as voting will be at eight locations around the county.

“Just a reminder that your early voting and Election Day location will be the same for this election,” Wise County Elections Administrator Sabra Srader said. “Please check your voting precinct and refer to our website for your polling location, dates and times.”

Here is the list of voting locations (note: some entities overlap other entities):

  • City of Boyd, Boyd ISD, Northwest ISD, ESD No. 1, Walnut Creek SUD, Wise County Water Control and Improvement District (WCWCID) No. 1 — Boyd Community Center, 420 E. Morton Ave.
  • City of Decatur, Decatur ISD, WCWCID No. 1 — Decatur City Hall (Community Room) 201 E. Walnut
  • City of Lake Bridgeport, Bridgeport ISD, WCWCID No. 1 — Lake Bridgeport City Hall, 301 S. Main St.
  • City of Rhome, Northwest ISD, WCWCID No. 1 — Rhome Fire Hall, 261 N. School Road
  • City of Runaway Bay, Bridgeport ISD and WCWCID No. 1 — Norma Coble Civic Center, 51 Runaway Bay Dr.
  • Alvord ISD, WCWCID No. 1 — Alvord City Hall, 215 W. Elm St.
  • Bridgeport ISD, WCWCID No. 1 — Bridgeport Community Center, 1102 Lawdwin Ave.
  • Chico ISD, WCWCID No. 1 — Chico City Hall, 400 S. Hovey

The May 4 ballot includes contested school board races in Boyd, Decatur and Northwest; contested city council or mayor races in Boyd, Decatur, Lake Bridgeport, Rhome and Runaway Bay; school bond elections in Boyd, Bridgeport and Chico; city bond propositions and a tax rollback election in Rhome; a sales and use tax election in Wise County Emergency Services District No. 1; and director elections in two water districts: Walnut Creek SUD and Wise County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1.
