ALVORD NAMES TEFERTILLER SUPERINTENDENT FINALIST — Aaron Tefertiller has been selected as the lone finalist for Alvord ISD’s superintendent position after the school board worked out a few details of the promotion Monday. Tefertiller has been managing roles as both Alvord High School principal and basketball coach at Alvord ISD. After coaching at Alvord in 2008-09, he returned to the district in 2016, where he was taken under the wing of current superintendent, Randy Brown. “They’ve been good to me here,” Tefertiller said. “Years ago, Dr. Brown approached me about taking over as principal, and I wasn’t interested at the time. We decided that if I could keep coaching, we’d just reevaluate every year.” Following the state-mandated 21-day waiting period, the school board is expected to take action to make the hire official. Tefertiller will continue serving as principal through the end of the school year while Brown continues in his role. The district anticipates a leadership transition around June 1. 2 WOMEN TESTIFY HORNER RAPED THEM AS TEENS — Two women who said they were raped by Tanner Horner when they were 16 years old — below the age of consent — testified on Tuesday in his capital murder trial. They said Horner was six and seven years older than them at the time in 2013 and 2014. One woman testified that Horner said he fantasized about rape. A DNA analyst also testified that male DNA was detected in swabs taken from vaginal and anal swabs from Athena Strand. Presumptive tests of a number of items of Horner’s clothing also showed the presence of blood and semen. A digital forensics analyst also testified that in the hours and days after Athena’s disappearance, Horner’s phone showed searches such as “do FedEx cameras constantly record” and “Paradise missing girl.” The trial continues today in Fort Worth.
