
Hazardous driving conditions as a result of Winter Storm Fern’s impact will close Wise County schools on Thursday — the fourth straight day. AUSTIN JACKSON | WCMESSENGER
The extended weekend will continue for students, as local school districts will wait another day before welcoming students back to classes after Winter Storm Fern dropped inches of ice and snow on Wise County within the past week.
Several districts will remain closed Thursday, Jan. 29 due to hazardous driving conditions from the winter storm.
After discussing conditions with the Wise County Office of Emergency Management Tuesday morning, the decision to close the educational facilities Thursday was announced 4 p.m. Wednesday.
This includes:
- Decatur ISD
- Bridgeport ISD
- Northwest ISD
- Boyd ISD
- Paradise ISD
- Slidell ISD
- Chico ISD
- Alvord ISD
- Victory Christian Academy
- Wise Christian School
Weatherford College had yet to announce campus status for Thursday as of 4:25 p.m. Wednesday.
