HITTING 100? — Record high temperatures are expected this afternoon as Wise County could reach triple digits. Officially, the forecast for Wise County includes a high in the upper-90s while some areas to our south are expected to top 100 degrees. We should have sunny skies today with a west wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Remember to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning if working for long periods of time outdoors. Wise County is also included along with the Metroplex in an ozone action day due to conditions that are favorable for producing high levels of ozone air pollution. Clouds are expected to return to the area on Thursday, bringing high temperatures down about 10 degrees.
1 LANE OF FM 730 IN BOYD NOW OPEN — As flood water recedes, the extent of damage to area roadways are becoming more clear. Farm Road 730 sustained damage near the Trinity River crossing, where back-flow compromised the edge and support structure at certain points on the road, said Boyd Mayor Rodney Holmes. The Texas Department of Transportation announced that it began work to reopen FM 730 Tuesday. “For now, a temporary traffic signal will alternate traffic in one lane,” said TxDOT spokesperson Michael Peters. “Both lanes will be reopened after water recedes and any resulting roadway repairs are complete. Ultimately, this low water crossing is being replaced with a new bridge over West Fork Trinity River. This construction project is estimated for completion in 2026.” Read more online here.
