A NIGHT FOR NOLAN FUNDRAISER — “A Night For Nolan,” a fundraiser to support the family of Nolan Hayhurst who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, is Friday at Slidell Fire Department. COLOR RUN — The Decatur High School Honor Society is holding its first color run, “Chasing Rainbows for Sophia,” in honor of Sophia and Nolan Christensen 8:30 to 10 a.m. April 11 at First Baptist Church in Decatur. MEALS ON WHEELS GALA — The Wise County Committee on Aging’s Meals on Wheels Wise County Gala and Auction 2026 will be held 6 p.m. March 27 at the Decatur Conference Center. The theme for this year is “The Gilded Age: Dine – Donate – Do Good.” Gilded Age attire optional. Festivities include silent and live auction, raffle, entertainment and open bar. BASEBALL RESULTS — Boyd scored seven runs in the first inning, as the Yellowjackets (18-0, 3-0) stretched their win streak to 18 games following a 10-0 District 10-3A series-opening victory against Valley View in five innings Tuesday. Paradise (11-3, 1-0) rallied late with seven runs in the fifth inning to capture a 9-2 victory against Ponder. Bridgeport (5-10-2, 1-0) held on late to clinch a 2-1 7-4A win over Eagle Mountain. Kolby Flake and Brayden Clark combined for a no-hitter, as Alvord (10-5) routed Bellevue in four innings, 16-0.
SOFTBALL RESULTS — Decatur (7-5, 2-1) attempted to rally late, but a 4-run first inning caused the Lady Eagles to drop their first District 7-4A contest to Eagle Mountain Tuesday, 5-3. Bridgeport (1-17) fell to 0-5 in league play after a 21-0 shutout loss to Burkburnett. Paradise (18-3-1, 3-1) suffered its first 10-3A defeat to Whitesboro 10-9 after the home team Lady Cats walked off with a 2-run single.
SOFTBALL — Alvord (8-4-2, 1-0) returns to the field for a District 13-2A road battle against Lindsay at 3 p.m.
GIRLS STATE POWERLIFTING — Alvord’s Joyce Perez and Cambrie Peoples, Chico’s Brylee Wright and Slidell’s Sarah Cox and Jaydyn Bruggink will hit the mats for the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s 1A/2A state championship meet today at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg. Boyd’s Estela Echerd will compete at the THSWPA 3A state meet, also held today in Edinburg.
