ALVORD SUPERINTENDENT ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT PLAN — Dr. Randy Brown, Alvord ISD’s longtime superintendent, will retire at the end of the school year, the district leader announced Tuesday. Brown has spent 34 years in education, including the past 11 leading Alvord ISD. In a phone interview Tuesday, Brown said his decision to retire from school administration came down to timing, family and his interest in pursuing a second career. “We came here 11 years ago, and it wasn’t necessarily our plan to stay here for 11 years,” Brown said. “But Alvord ISD has been a great place for our family. My wife works here as the school nurse. My oldest son graduated from here and is now a teacher and a coach. My youngest is graduating this year, so that will be kind of like a graduation for both of us.” Brown will continue to lead the district through the end of the school year and assist with the transition until the next superintendent is hired.
