FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT — After additional rainfall Monday, flooding concerns in Wise County will increase again today. Wise County remains under a flood watch through Tuesday evening, with National Weather Service office in Fort Worth forecasts showing 1 to 3 inches of rain, with isolated amounts in excess of 5 inches possible. The brief break in rain Sunday brought some relief after Lake Bridgeport peaked at 838.79 feet over the weekend. It’s currently down to 837.59 feet, with discharge decreasing to around 5,527 cubic feet per second (CFS). Discharge peaked at 9,501 cfs late last week. A flood warning also remains in effect for the West Fork Trinity River near Boyd with the river remaining around 3 feet over the flood stage Monday. Yesterday’s rainfall totals included 0.7 of an inch in Greenwood and 0.45 in Alvord.

BULLS LEAD FIELD AFTER OPENING ROUND — The Bridgeport Bulls hold the top team spot after the first round of the 4A state tournament, and look primed to claim their second straight state title. Bridgeport leads the field after carding an opening round 295 Monday at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland. The Bulls lead second-place Andrews (308) by 13, while China Spring sits in third with 311. Brady Mann shot 71 in the first round, and is in second place — 1 stroke behind current leader Madden Myers of Canyon Randall (70). Aiden Green is also in the top 10 after the first round. Green carded a 1-over-par 73, and is tied for fourth. Colten Paradise is just outside of the top 11, recording a Day 1 75 to sit in a five-way tie for 11th. Tied for 16th, Bridgeport’s Collin Moody recorded 76 in the opening round. Zach Kehoe is the lone Bull outside of the top 20. He shot 78 to tie for 24th. The second round of the 4A state tournament is scheduled to be played at noon Tuesday. Inclement weather in the Kingsland area may cause a delay or possible cancellation on the final round.

VICTIM IDENTIFIED IN APRIL RV FIRE — After a two-week wait, the identity of the victim killed in an early morning RV fire last month south of Decatur was released last week. According to Wise County Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Mandy Hays, the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office Friday identified Jeffrey Wayne Clark of Decatur. On April 17, emergency responders were dispatched to the fire in the 3500 block of Farm Road 51 South near County Road 3198 at about 6 a.m. Hays sent Clark’s body to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office. Additionally, two dogs were found dead inside the structure. Wise County EMS Chief Randall Preuninger — who was also serving as acting fire marshal at the scene — confirmed to the Messenger Monday that the fire was determined to be accidental, and the investigation into the blaze has been closed.

MOBILE FOOD PANTRY — Bridgeport Mobile Pantry at First Methodist Church is 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Food consisting of vegetables, fruit, protein items and other items will be available for 275 families.
