MAN INJURED IN POWER LINE ACCIDENT — A Sanger man was flown to a Metroplex hospital in critical condition Monday after a power line accident near Bridgeport and Alvord. Justin Rushing, 25, of Sanger was working on the electrical line in the 400 block of Farm Road 1655 before the accident occurred, according to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO). First responders and utility company personnel responded to the scene at around 10:39 a.m. “[He] was working in the bucket of his work truck on the power line and accidentally touched the power line,” said Eric Debus, WCSO chief deputy. Wise County EMS Chief Randall Preuninger said the patient suffered critical injuries. Air Evac LifeTeam 68 flew Rushing to the burn unit at Medical City Plano. He was alert minutes after the accident, Debus said. The work trucks at the site belonged to Revolution Power, LLC, an electric company based out of Whitesboro. Bridgeport Fire Department also responded to the injured person call. Utility personnel were also called to ensure the power was shut off.

GIBSON NAMED LONE FINALIST — Paradise ISD didn’t have to look far to find its next top administrator — someone who is already a familiar face in the district. Robyn Gibson was named the lone finalist for the Paradise ISD superintendent position on Tuesday morning at a special school board meeting. The school board unanimously voted to name her as the next superintendent after a closed session discussion that lasted about 20 minutes. Her contract will begin after the state-mandated 21-day waiting period. Gibson — the district’s assistant superintendent — has been the acting superintendent since May 31. She took over the top administrator position following the departure of former superintendent Will Brewer, who took the same job at Jim Ned CISD after 2 1/2 years in Paradise. Gibson is in her 29th year of education, with the last 12 spent in Paradise. She has also held administrator positions in Bridgeport and Keller ISDs.

The incident occurred around noon at the Community Church during Sunflower Camp, a free day camp for individuals with special needs held the first week of June each year. According to Wise County EMS Chief Randall Preuninger, the injured juvenile was a passenger in the UTV when a rollover wreck occurred. Wise County EMS and Decatur Fire Department responded to the scene. Scanner traffic indicated the wreck happened in a pasture behind the church at 2840 U.S. 380. The child sustained serious injuries, Preuninger said, and was transported by ground ambulance to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth.

Boyd experienced its best campaign under Warner in her final season. The Lady Jackets (16-13, 6-6) finished fourth in District 10-3A, and earned the league’s second seed in the 3A Division II bracket — the program’s first playoff berth since 2015.
