2 CONTRACTORS INJURED FROM ELECTRICAL SHOCK — Two contractors working at a building construction site in Decatur received electrical shocks Monday afternoon. The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. at 1500 Deer Park Road, where the Chisholm Trail apartment complex is being built. Decatur Police Chief Delvon Campbell said the two contractors were taking down equipment when one of the supports touched a power line, injuring both of them. “Both were alert and oriented” when being checked by medics, Campbell said. Wise County EMS transported both patients to Medical City Decatur where one patient was flown by Air Evac Lifeteam 68 to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, and the second patients was flown by PHI to a hospital in Plano. First responders were initially told at least one person fell several feet from a bucket, but both patients were on the ground when the incident occurred, Campbell said. Decatur Police Department and Decatur Fire Department also responded to the scene.

BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYOFF RESULTS — Paradise (28-6) shook off a slow start and used a 43-28 run in the final 24 minutes to claim a 47-38 win over Hooks in the 3A Division II Region II semifinals Monday at Paris High School.

LIVE FIRE TRAINING NEAR DECATUR — The Decatur Fire Department will conduct wildland fire training 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today south of Decatur off U.S. 81/287 on the west side of the road, near the 700 block of County Road 4127.

TUESDAY AT THE YOUTH FAIR — The Wise County Youth Fair continues today at the Wise County Fairgrounds in Decatur. The breeding dairy goat show is at 10 a.m., the rabbit breed ID contest 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the meat pen rabbits and breeding rabbits at 1 p.m., the longhorn show at 1 p.m. and the breeding swine show at 4 p.m. The horse show featuring performance events started at 6:30 a.m. at Salt Creek Arena followed by the horse performance show at 8:30.

ROAD CLOSURE — County Road 4599 near Boyd will be closed for repairs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Wednesday and possibly lasting until Friday.

YOGA AT THE LIBRARY — The Decatur Public Library will host a yoga session 6 p.m. Thursday. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced yogi, this class is open to all and will help improve flexibility, strength and mindfulness. The session is hosted by Devon McCain, LPC, RYT 200.

STEM MEETING — The STEM Academy at Enis Elementary will host an informational meeting 6 to 7 tonight. In order to apply for the lottery of available spots, you must attend either this meeting or one scheduled for March 13. Call 940-393-7475.

GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS — Decatur (34-2) will take on Mabank in the 4A Division I state semifinals 6:30 tonight at Mansfield Timberview High School. Paradise (26-10) squares off against Idalou in the 3AII state semifinals 6:30 p.m. at Clyde High School.

BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS — Decatur (28-8) will face Canyon West Plains in a 4A Division I Region I semifinal battle 5 tonight at Childress High School.

SOCCER — The Bridgeport Bulls (9-5, 5-1) seek revenge against Decatur (15-0-2, 6-0) in the teams’ second District 4-4A Battle of Big Sandy matchup 6 tonight at Bull Memorial Stadium. In the nightcap, the Sissies (5-10-1, 0-6) battle the Lady Eagles (11-5-2, 6-0) at 7:30 p.m.

BASEBALL — Bridgeport (0-1) will battle Mineral Wells in a non-district affair 7 tonight at home. Chico (0-1) travels to take on Archer City at 4:30 p.m.

SOFTBALL — Decatur (1-1) opens District 7-4A with a road battle against Lake Worth 7 tonight at Lake Worth High School. Bridgeport (1-5) will face Castleberry in its league home opener at 7 p.m. Boyd (5-2-2) welcomes Irving for a non-district battle at 7 p.m. Alvord (2-4) squares off against Saint Jo in the Lady Bulldogs’ 10-2A home opener at 5 p.m. Chico (4-3) welcomes Callisburg in non-league play at 5 p.m.
