STUDENT ALLEGES TEACHER FED LIVE KITTEN TO SNAKE IN CLASS — No charges have been filed against an Alvord High School teacher who allegedly fed a live kitten to her snake in front of students in the classroom. According to a parent of an AHS student, the incident happened Sept. 3 in a science class. The teacher brought four kittens from her own home and fed one to her snake while students were present in her first period class, the parent said. Alvord ISD Police and the AISD administration investigated the allegation, with the AISD Police consulting the Wise County Attorney’s Office. AISD Police Chief Tony Vo told the Wise County Messenger Wednesday that no animal cruelty charges have been filed in the case. AISD Superintendent Randy Brown provided a statement to the Messenger Wednesday saying the district cannot discuss personnel matters but that “the district takes all reports of misconduct seriously and is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all students.” Read more in today’s Messenger or online here.
