COTTONDALE HOME LOST TO FIRE — A home near Cottondale was destroyed by fire Wednesday afternoon. The fire was reported around 1 p.m. Wise County Fire Marshal Jeff Doughty said the double wide mobile home in the 300 block of County Road 3677 was “well involved” in flames when firefighters arrived and has been deemed a 100 percent loss. A man who lives at the house was able to escape without injuries. ESD 3 (Cottondale, Salt Creek, Paradise fire departments); ESD 1 (Boyd Fire Department); ESD 2 (Boonsville/Balsora Fire Department) Parker County ESD 1, Wise County EMS Medic 3, Rescue-1, Rescue-2 and Precinct 4 Commissioner Colby Shawn also responded to the scene.

ANGEL GARDEN — The Chico Memorial Angel Garden will begin setting up the week of Thanksgiving. The candlelight ceremony is 6 p.m. Nov. 29 at the pavilion on the square in Chico. To reserve an area for your loved one’s angel or for more information contact Tammy Sosa at 940-393-1726.

SOLARIS BAND PERFORMANCE — Solaris Healthcare will present The Solaris Band live music performance 2 p.m. Friday at The Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation in Decatur.

BLOOD DRIVE — EWN will host a blood drive 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at 1210 S. Business U.S. 81/287 in Decatur (between the Whistle Stop Café and Carson Elementary). Sign up in advance at wcmess.com/donor111825.

FALL CLEAN UP — The City of Rhome will host its annual shred day and fall clean up 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Bring bulk items to the Old School location (261 School Road).

FALL FESTIVAL — Greater Runaway Bay Alliance will host the Welcome Table and free face painting and craft tables during the Smoke on the Water Fall Festival 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Runaway Bay Event Center.

WARM FOOD DRIVE — Wise Area Relief Mission is holding its Thanksgiving Share and Care Food Drive. The food bank is collecting Thanksgiving meal items including chicken/turkey broth, “cream of” soups, canned/box milk, rolls, mini marshmallows, canned vegetables, canned pumpkin, canned cranberry sauce, box mac and cheese, box mashed potatoes, brown gravy jar/packet, spices/herbs, French fried onions, graham cracker crust and stuffing. Items can be dropped off at the food bank anytime before the holiday.

FIRE DEPARTMENT FISH FRY — The Runaway Bay Fire Department will host its 9th Annual First Responders Fish Fry fundraiser 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Runaway Bay Event Center. Plates are $15 for adults and $5 for kids.

NEW HOURS AT LIBRARY — Decatur Public Library’s new fall hours are as follows: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

LEARN ABOUT FOSTERING — Cumberland Youth and Family Services will be at Decatur Public Library 6 tonight to discuss how your family can become a foster family.

FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS — Decatur (6-3) will start its 4A Division I postseason journey with a bi-district matchup against Castleberry (6-4) at 7 tonight at Birdville ISD’s Fine Arts/Athletic Complex.

FUNERAL for Christine Lanelle Langley, 86, of Aurora is 10 a.m. Monday at Chisholm Trail Church in Rhome with burial at Laurel Land Cemetery in Fort Worth. Family visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Hawkins-Bridgeport is handling arrangements.
