COUNTY ADOPTS NEW THOROUGHFARE PLAN — A document designed to guide and shape the expansion of local roadways amid rapid population growth was adopted by county commissioners Monday. The Wise Moves Thoroughfare Master Plan was approved following a public hearing that drew feedback from dozens of residents. Major routes targeted for relief include U.S. 380, U.S. 81/287 and Texas 114. The plan includes proposals for new north-south corridors, additional east-west connections and seven grade separations. SCHOOL GOES INTO LOCKDOWN AFTER PHONE CALL — Chico ISD went into a soft lockdown, or a “secure,” Wednesday after receiving a concerning phone call around lunch time, according to a letter from the district. The call was received by a staff member who immediately reported it, and the school’s resource officer called the sheriff’s office. Multiple officers were sent to the school to investigate and confirm that all buildings were safe. During this time, students continued to work in their classrooms, but no students or staff were allowed to go outside. The district said it cannot release more details until the investigation has concluded.

2 ARRESTED IN FIGHT OUTSIDE CONVENIENCE STORE — A pair of fights that broke out between two juveniles and their mothers in the Decatur QuikTrip parking lot Tuesday morning resulted in multiple arrests. Decatur Police Department responded to the disturbance in progress at the gas station shortly before 9 a.m. Bystander video that circulated online Tuesday showed two adult women grappling near the front of the convenience store at 701 W. Hale Ave., with two juveniles also engaged in combat in a nearby parking space. “It was an ongoing dispute between the daughters that carried over with the moms,” Decatur Police Chief Delvon Campbell said. A woman and a juvenile were arrested for misdemeanor assault.

FOREST SERVICE PROPOSES FEE INCREASE — The Caddo and Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands is proposing changes to recreation fees at a popular recreation site. The proposal would increase the day use fee at Black Creek Lake from $2 per vehicle to $5. The public may comment on the proposed recreation fee changes through April 30. MOBILE PANTRY — Bridgeport Mobile Food Pantry is 8 to 10 a.m. today at Bridgeport First Methodist Church. There will be produce, meat and other items for at least 250 families.
