HEAT ADVISORY CONTINUES — Wise County is once again included in a heat advisory today as temperatures are expected to reach triple digits for the third consecutive day. The National Weather Service forecast includes a high temperature around 103 this afternoon with even higher heat index values. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity means the area will be under a heat advisory from noon to 8 p.m. The conditions will increase the risk for heat-related illnesses to occur, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Take extra precautions when outside and pay attention to symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. A bit of relief may come this weekend with 20 to 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms each day Friday through Sunday with expected highs in the low- to mid-90s.
