HOME DESTROYED IN INTENSE BLAZE — A home off Farm Road 730 five miles north of Decatur was destroyed in an intense fire Wednesday evening. Decatur Fire Department, Wise County EMS and the Wise County Fire Marshal responded to the fire around 4:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of FM 730. Wise County Fire Marshal Jeff Doughty said no people were injured in the blaze. He confirmed that occupants were outside the home when first responders arrived. Officially, the cause of the fire had not yet been determined as of Wednesday evening, Doughty said. According to initial 911 reports, the fire may have originated in the kitchen of the wooden home. After initially knocking down the fire with an exterior attack, the intensity of the blaze grew once 4,000 gallons of available water were exhausted from those initial units. Shortly after, first responding units were joined by Bridgeport Fire Department, Alvord Fire Department and Greenwood-Slidell Volunteer Fire Department, who brought in water resource reinforcements. Oncor Electric also responded due to the area after reports of a live electrical wire near the house.
