STUDY RECOMMENDS $6 BILLION FOR 287 IMPROVEMENTS — A Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) study over a year in the making has been completed, and its results could mean major upgrades for U.S. 287, especially in Wise County, and possibly a future interstate status. The final report from TxDOT and the U.S. 287 Corridor Study determined a need for more than $6 billion worth of improvements in the Fort Worth District, which includes Wise and Tarrant counties. The potential improvements include bolstered safety, connectivity and mobility in Wise County. Fifteen total projects were recommended in Wise County. It was the most of any one county in the corridor study that stretches across 671 miles in Texas, encompassing nine TxDOT districts, 55 counties, 68 adjacent cities, and more than eight million people.
