Update for Monday, October 6, 2025

FIRE FOUNDATION FORMED — A group of Decatur business and civic leaders have formed the Decatur Fire Department Foundation to support the operations of the fire department. The department is now funded by Decatur taxpayers and a small monthly allocation from Wise County. City accounting rules require donations made directly to the fire department become a part of the city budget and may not be allocated to the fire department only. The new foundation will assure that all donations made to the foundation stay within the fire department. State approval has been given to the foundation, and a 501c3 application is pending before the Internal Revenue Service. Donations to the foundation can be mailed or taken to the Decatur Fire Station at 1705 South State Street, Decatur, TX 76234.
