DELGADO, FORTUNE NAMED TO TGCA ALL-STAR SQUAD — Boyd junior Addy Delgado and Decatur junior Grace Fortune were recently selected for the 2025 Texas Girls Coaches Association’s 1A-4A All-Star showcase, scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington High School. Both players were selected to the 1A-4A Red team. Delgado helped lead Boyd (37-5) to the 3A Division II state volleyball championship match, while Fortune aided the Lady Eagles (32-13) in their run to the 4A Division I state volleyball title in the 2024 campaign. BERRY TO STEP DOWN FROM AD, GBB ROLES AT VCA — Victory Christian Academy athletic director and girls basketball coach Joe Berry has announced his intention to relinquish his roles by the end of the 2025 calendar year. Berry, who has coached for 47 years, has been at VCA since 2014. During his tenure, he has seen the school claim 10 TCAF state titles and led the athletic department’s move from TCAF to TAPPS. Last season, Berry led the Lady Patriots basketball program to a 26-6 record and a regional final berth in its first season in TAPPS 2A, and claimed his 700th coaching victory. Jeremy Bartlett will take over the girls basketball program in the 2025-26 season, while football and boys basketball coach Nathan Geiger will assume the athletic director role in January.
