DELGADO, FORTUNE NAMED TO TGCA ALL-STAR SQUAD — Boyd junior Addy Delgado and Decatur junior Grace Fortune were recently selected for the 2025 Texas Girls Coaches Association’s 1A-4A All-Star showcase, scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington High School. Both players were selected to the 1A-4A Red team. Delgado helped lead Boyd (37-5) to the 3A Division II state volleyball championship match, while Fortune aided the Lady Eagles (32-13) in their run to the 4A Division I state volleyball title in the 2024 campaign. BERRY TO STEP DOWN FROM AD, GBB ROLES AT VCA — Victory Christian Academy athletic director and girls basketball coach Joe Berry has announced his intention to relinquish his roles by the end of the 2025 calendar year. Berry, who has coached for 47 years, has been at VCA since 2014. During his tenure, he has seen the school claim 10 TCAF state titles and led the athletic department’s move from TCAF to TAPPS. Last season, Berry led the Lady Patriots basketball program to a 26-6 record and a regional final berth in its first season in TAPPS 2A, and claimed his 700th coaching victory. Jeremy Bartlett will take over the girls basketball program in the 2025-26 season, while football and boys basketball coach Nathan Geiger will assume the athletic director role in January. RAIN REPORT — Parts of Wise County saw a small amount of rain over the weekend. Rainfall totals included 0.15 of an inch in Alvord and 0.06 in Decatur. Today’s forecast includes a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m. Otherwise it will be mostly sunny with a high near 91.

HISTORICAL COMMISSION MEETING — The Wise County Historical Commission will meet noon Thursday in the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce board room at 812A Halsell Street in Bridgeport. Attendees may bring a sack lunch at 11:30 a.m. and enjoy a “Lunch and Learn” presented by Ronald Womack.

WISE REPUBLICAN WOMEN MEETING — Wise Republican Women will meet 6 tonight in the Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Courtroom in the Wise County Law Enforcement Center in Decatur. Representative Andy Hopper will give a legislative update.

WELCOMING TEACHERS BACK — The Decatur Chamber of Commerce will deliver welcome bags to Decatur ISD and Victory Christian Academy teachers. The chamber is accepting items — gift cards, pens, note pads, highlighters and snacks — through 4 p.m. Thursday to put in the bags. If items need to be picked up, call Avery at 940-627-3107.

DECATUR SCHOOL BOARD — The Decatur School Board meets tonight with closed session beginning at 5 p.m. with open session beginning at 6 p.m.

DECATUR CITY COUNCIL — The Decatur City Council meets tonight with a workshop at 6 p.m. followed by the regular meeting.

BRIDGEPORT CITY COUNCIL — The Bridgeport City Council meets today with a budget workshop at 4 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 6 p.m.
