BULLS ADVANCE TO STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SOCCER MATCH — For the first time in nearly a decade, the Bridgeport Bulls will make their return to the state championship. Bridgeport (21-3) took down Dallas Pinkston (17-4-5) 3-1 Friday at McKinney ISD Stadium, registering goals from Xxavier Garza, Jared Contreras and Cory Lopez in the 4A Division II state semifinal win. The Bulls will face Brookshire Royal in the 4AII state title match 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Georgetown’s Birkelbach Field. The Falcons (28-1-1) tied Corpus Christi London at 3 at the end of overtime and claimed a 4-3 shootout win. Read more online here.

BASEBALL RESULTS — Boyd (21-2, 6-2) picked up its sixth District 10-3A win by shutting out Whitesboro in its series finale Friday, 7-0. Alvord (13-6, 2-2) fell to .500 in 10-2A play after being swept by Muenster following a 4-2 loss. Chico (1-11, 0-4) remains winless in district play after falling to Nocona, 11-1.

SOFTBALL RESULTS — Alvord (11-7-2) dropped to 3-3 in District 10-2A after being shut out by Muenster Friday, 11-0. Chico (1-6, 0-5) suffered an 18-3 league blowout loss to Lindsay.

RAIN REPORT — Rainfall totals from Saturday morning included 2 inches in Bridgeport and 1.9 in Decatur. Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies with a high around 70 and an overnight low of 46.

LIBRARY GIVING DAYS — The Decatur Library Friends and Foundation hosts Library Giving Days this week. Donate to the foundation through QR codes on signs posted around the city or at the library. This year’s goal is $3,000 to help the foundation offer a second scholarship for a Wise County senior in 2027.

CITY-WIDE GARAGE SALE — Bridgeport will host its next City-Wide Garage Sale April 17 and 18. Garage sale permit fees will be waived for those days. To be placed on a garage sale map, fill out a form by Wednesday at city hall or online at cityofbridgeport.net/garagesales. Maps will be available April 13 at city hall and the library. WOMAN’S CLUB FUNDRAISER — The Decatur Woman’s Club will hold its Bougie Bingo fundraiser 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Gage Cantina, 1197 Greenwood Road. Cost is $100 per person and includes lunch, beverages and three cards per game. Proceeds will benefit Wise County Meals on Wheels, Raquel’s Wings for Life and WARM.
