Boyd (31-9) swept Cedar Hill Trinity Leadership in its first 3AI postseason matchup — 25-9, 25-6, 25-7. Paradise (28-13) earned its first playoff win under coach Cali Springer with a sweep against Duncanville Village Tech — 25-7, 25-12, 25-17. Alvord (20-19) saw its first season under coach Makala Rogers come to an end with a 2AI first-round loss to Tioga — 25-16, 25-23, 25-20. Northwest (25-12) clinched the program’s first 6AII postseason win by sweeping Weatherford — 25-20, 25-20, 25-20.

PUMPKIN SPICE FOR LIFE RUN — Wise Choices Pregnancy Resource Center will hold its Pumpkin Spice for Life 5K Run and Tot Trot Saturday at 603 N. Trinity St. in Decatur. Registration is at 8 a.m., 5K at 8:45 and Tot Trot at 9. Enjoy a craft market from 9 a.m. to noon along with a barrel train, bounce house and more. Proceeds will benefit the pregnancy resource center.
FOOTBALL — Decatur (5-2, 4-0) will fight for the District 5-4A Division I title against rival Springtown 7 tonight at Porcupine Stadium. Bridgeport (1-6, 0-3) travels for a 3-4AII showdown against Burkburnett 7 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium. Boyd (5-3, 2-2) looks to claim a playoff berth with a 4-3AI upset win against Peaster 7 p.m. at Yellowjacket Stadium. Paradise (7-2, 5-0) returns to the gridiron to battle Ponder in a league showdown 7 p.m. at Lion Stadium. Chico (1-6, 0-3) is on the road for an 8-2AII contest against Era 7 p.m. at Hornet Stadium. Northwest (2-6, 1-5) will face Euless Trinity in 4-6A action 7 p.m. at HEB’s Pennington Field.
STATE CROSS COUNTRY — Paradise’s Taryn Stoltz and Allie McCormick will compete in the 3A girls 2-mile race 8:15 a.m. today at Round Rock’s Old Settlers Park. On Saturday, Decatur’s Maddyx Coffman and Reagan Nicks will race in the 4A girls 2-mile at 8:15 a.m., followed by Decatur’s Tate Clackler in the 4A boys 5K at 8:45 a.m. Slidell’s Cash Luig, Carter Pierce, Joshua Beard, Marshall Hooker, Mayson Taylor, Giovannie Peralta and Tre Salinas, along with Alvord’s Hudson Kelly, compete in the 2A boys 5K at 11:25 a.m.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN — It’s Halloween, and that means trick-or-treating. Be sure to watch for costumed pedestrians, particularly after dark tonight.
DECATUR SWIRL — Decatur Swirl is 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Downtown Decatur. The annual event features wine, food, music and shopping. Tickets are available at decatur-swirl.com.
MOBILE FOOD PANTRY — The Decatur Cares Mobile Pantry is Saturday. Food will be distributed 7:30-9 a.m. Cars can lineup in the First United Methodist Church east parking area. There will be vegetables, fruit and protein items for 225 families. Volunteers are welcome 6:45 to 9 a.m.
