BUTTERFIELD STAGE DAYS — The 42nd Annual Butterfield Stage Days Festival is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on Halsell Street in Bridgeport. The event will include vendors, a pickleball tournament, basketball tournament, bingo and the Eighth Annual Cook-Off. Halsell Street from 10th Street to 12th Street and the southside of 11th Street to the alleyway will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday for the event.
SHEARMIRE TO BE INDUCTED INTO HALL OF FAME — Bridgeport girls basketball coach Darryn Shearmire will be a part of an eight-member Class of 2025 inducted into the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame Saturday at the Hilton San Antonio Airport Hotel. The enshrinement banquet is being held during the annual Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Clinic. Playing for Archer City from 1979 to 1982, Shearmire helped lead the Wildcats to three straight undefeated district titles and a pair of trips to the state tournament. He had a combined high school record of 116-23 and scored 2,650 total points, earning all-state honors in 1981 and 1982 and an all-state tournament team selection as a junior. SLIGHT CHANCE OF STORMS — Today’s forecast calls for a high near 75 degrees with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. It should be a nice weekend with highs around 75 both Saturday and Sunday with no rain in the forecast.
PLAYOFF BASEBALL RESULTS — Boyd (28-5) shut out Paris Chism 10-0 in Game 1 of its 3A Division II area series Thursday. Game 2 will be at 7 tonight at McKinney High School. A tiebreaker is slated for 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Denton Braswell High School, if necessary. Paradise (14-8-2) earned an 11-0 shutout win in Game 1 of a 3AII area-round opener against Prairiland. Game 2 will be played 5 p.m. Friday at Anna High School, followed by a tiebreaker 30 minutes after Game 2, if needed.
PLAYOFF SOFTBALL — Boyd (28-4-2) opened its 3A Division II regional semifinal series with a 2-1 win against De Kaleb Thursday. Game 2 is slated for 7 tonight at Farmersville High School. If necessary, a tiebreaker is scheduled for noon Saturday.
PLAYOFF BASEBALL — Decatur (17-14-1) will face Lubbock Estacado in Game 1 of a 4A Division I area-round series 7 tonight at Clyde High School. Game 2 is slated for 1 p.m. Saturday, with a tiebreaker following 30 minutes after Game 2, if necessary. Alvord (17-6) battles Honey Grove in a best-of-three series at Prosper High School. The series opens with Game 1 6:30 tonight, followed by Game 2 3 p.m. Saturday. If necessary, a tiebreaker is slated for 5 p.m. Saturday.
SELENA TRIBUTE CONCERT — The “Baile De Bridgeport” festival returns tonight to Bridgeport Main Street with a free performance by Amanda Solis and The Ultimate Selena Experience, a popular tribute to the legendary Selena Quintanilla, at 9:30 p.m. The festival kicks off at 7 p.m. with live Latino bands, more than 20 Latino-inspired food vendors, and drinks available for purchase (no outside alcohol allowed).
DECLUTTER DECATUR — Keep Decatur Beautiful will host Declutter Decatur spring cleaning event 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the McCarroll Middle School field house parking lot. Roll off bins will be provided for large and bagged items. A shredding truck will be on site for all paper. There will also be a trailer for metal, and cardboard collection.
