BURN BAN ACTIVE — Despite an expected cold front dropping late afternoon temperatures into the 50s, elevated fire danger continues today, meaning the county’s burn ban is in effect. The cold front is expected to arrive this morning dropping temperatures from around 70 degrees to around 57 by 5 p.m. Winds behind the cold front could reach 15 to 25 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph. The overnight low will dip to around 50. We do have a 20 percent chance of rain today and a 30 percent chance of rain overnight. Saturday will be even cooler with a high around 57 and an overnight low of 49.

MEALS ON WHEELS GALA — The Wise County Committee on Aging’s Meals on Wheels Wise County Gala and Auction 2026 is 6 p.m. today at the Decatur Conference Center. The theme for this year is “The Gilded Age: Dine – Donate – Do Good.” Gilded Age attire optional. Festivities include silent and live auction, raffle, entertainment and open bar. GIRLS SOCCER PLAYOFFS — Decatur (11-7) will rematch Waxahachie Life in a 4A Division I Region I semifinal match 6 tonight at Saginaw High School.

BOYS PLAYOFF SOCCER — Bridgeport (18-3) faces Ferris in a 4A Division II Region I semifinal bout 6:30 tonight at Crowley ISD Multi-Purpose Stadium. Decatur (16-1-2) takes on Waxahachie Life in a 4AI third-round bout 8 p.m. at Saginaw High School.

BOYD EASTER EGG HUNT — The City of Boyd Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday at RT Brooks Youth Sports Complex. It will include a visit from the Easter Bunny, candy and snacks, bounce houses, DJ with music and special prizes. The event will include more than 15,000 eggs. Egg hunts for ages 0-3 is 3:15 p.m.; 4-8 at 3:30 p.m. and 9 and above at 3:45 p.m.

EGGSTRAVAGANZA — Bridgeport Parks and Recreation will host its annual Eggstravaganza spring carnival and egg hunt 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bridgeport Community Center and Lawdwin Ballfields. Egg hunt begins at 2. The event will also feature balloon animals, games and candy.

CUSTOMER APPRECIATION — First Financial Bank locations in Decatur, Boyd and Bridgeport will host customer appreciation 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday featuring refreshments.

CHICO EASTER EGG HUNT — Chico Park Board will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt noon Saturday at the Chico High School practice field next to field house. Ages toddlers to high school.

NEW FAIRVIEW EASTER EGG HUNT — The city will host an Easter Egg Hunt 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Chacon Community Park. It will feature egg hunts for three age groups as well as bounce castles, hayride, petting zoo, breakfast, a coffee truck and photos with the Easter Bunny.

RHOME EASTER CELEBRATION — The city’s Easter Celebration is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Rhome Family Park. It will include an Easter egg hunt, food, bounce houses, face painting, bubble show, pet adoptions, raffles and prizes.

GRAVESTONE CLEANING/CEMETERY CLEANUP — The John B. Denton Chapter, NSDAR will hold a free Gravestone Cleaning Workshop and Cemetery Cleanup Day for the community at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur 9 a.m. Saturday. BASEBALL — Boyd (19-1, 4-1) will look to draw a split in its District 10-3A series against rival Paradise (14-3, 3-0), as the series shifts to Paradise High School for Game 2 7:30 p.m. tonight. Chico (1-9, 0-1) also will try to avoid a rivalry sweep, as the Dragons take on Alvord (12-5, 1-0) in Game 2 of their 10-2A series 7 p.m. at Alvord High School. Decatur (11-6-1, 3-0) will play Game 2 of its 7-4A series against Lake Worth 6:30 p.m. at Lake Worth High School. Bridgeport (5-12-1, 1-2) faces Springtown in a 7-4A Game 2 affair 6:30 p.m. at home. VCA (1-6, 0-3) seeks its first TAPPS 2A District 2 win in a home battle against Harvest Christian Academy at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Bridgeport hosts Fort Worth Southwest, while Paradise travels to battle Fort Worth Northside. Both games are scheduled for 11 a.m.

SOFTBALL — Decatur (7-7, 3-3) attempts to climb above .500 on the season and in District 7-4A play with a road battle against Lake Worth to start the second round of league play 6 p.m. tonight. Bridgeport (2-17, 1-5) travels for a district battle against Castleberry at 7 p.m. In 10-3A, Boyd (22-2, 6-0) starts its second round of league play with a home showdown against Whitesboro at 5 p.m. Paradise (19-4-1, 4-2) faces Callisburg in its district second half opener 5 p.m. at Callisburg High School. Alvord (9-6-2, 1-2) seeks its second 10-2A win in a home bout against Era at 5 p.m. Chico (1-3, 0-1) will try to find the win column for the first time in district play in a road contest against Nocona at 11 a.m.
