MAN CRITICALLY INJURED IN STABBING — A 28-year-old man was critically injured Thursday in a Briar-area stabbing that reportedly involved members of the same work crew, according to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office. The Wise County Sheriff’s Office and other first responder agencies were dispatched to the reported stabbing in the 7300 block of Briar Road at approximately 11:45 a.m.“Upon arrival, deputies encountered a work crew that included a 28-year-old male who was suffering from multiple stab wounds,” Wise County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Eric Debus said. A 19-year-old male from the same work crew was taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Debus added. The initial information provided by the sheriff’s office did not include the names of either the suspect or the victim. Air Evac Lifeteam 68 flew the patient from the scene to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. Wise County EMS Chief Randall Preuninger said the man was in critical condition. Wise County EMS Squad-1 and Medic-3, as well as personnel from Wise County ESD No. 1 also responded to the scene near the Wise-Tarrant county line. “The investigation is ongoing and will be updated when possible,” Debus concluded in the WCSO statement.
BOYS SOCCER PLAYOFF RESULTS — Bridgeport (17-3) poured in three goals in the final 11 minutes to claim a 4-1 4A Division II bi-district win over Canyon Randall Thursday. The Bulls will face San Elizario in an area match next week. Game information has not been released.
SOCCER PLAYOFFS — The Decatur Lady Eagles (9-7) square off against Canyon in a 4A Division I bi-district battle 2 p.m. today at Burkburnett High School. Immediately following, the Decatur Eagles (14-1-2) face Canyon West Plains in a 4AI first-round matchup at 4 p.m.
GIRLS STATE POWERLIFTING — Decatur’s Samantha Gam, Faith Knight, Zheztynie Rodriguez, Lheztynie Rodriguez, Carrie Hamm, Ayden Colwell, Leona Pointon, Addyson Campbell and Abigail Reeves, and Bridgeport’s Abby Reicheneker, will compete at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s 4A large and small school meets today at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg.

SOFTBALL RESULTS — Boyd (21-2, 5-0) swung for 18 hits in a 10-1 District 10-3A road win against Ponder Thursday. Abby Atkinson racked up 19 strikeouts while allowing one hit in the circle. VCA (3-1) got 2-RBI performances by Embry Dillard, Sage Routh and Anderli Stanford, as the Lady Patriots were victorious against Paradise JV, 12-6.
