A 32-year-old pedestrian was flown to John Peter Smith hospital in Fort Worth after she was stuck by a vehicle while crossing Farm Road 51 in Decatur Monday morning.
Lauren McVey, 32, of Decatur was jogging across the intersection of FM 51 and Medical Center Drive at approximately 8:30 a.m. before she was hit by a 2007 Buick LaCrosse driven by Chae Walker, 83, of Decatur.
“Our officers talked to several witnesses who said the pedestrian was running west across the intersection and that the vehicles had a green light,” said Decatur Police Chief Delvon Campbell.
McVey was located approximately 75 feet from the point of the collision and in serious condition when first responders made the scene of the accident, Campbell said.
The pedestrian was transported across the street to Medical City Decatur by Wise County EMS and later flown to the Fort Worth hospital.
Walker was also taken to Medical City Decatur for treatment.
