Some of us still haven’t recovered from last year, but it’s official: The Wise County Old Settlers Reunion is less than two weeks away.
As the most anticipated event of the year draws closer, we’ll keep updating you on the Reunion dos and don’ts, where to go, what to do and how to make it another memorable year.
This week’s Reunion teaser contains the raw powers of local talent and established red dirt icons to bring you the music lineup that’s sure to be a certified classic.

Grab a partner, maybe even the entire family, and get ready to burn up the dance floor.
Vencedores Del Bravo, a Dallas-based band that blends traditional Mexican music with tasteful touches of modern sound, takes the stage at 9 p.m. on Thursday.
This is Year No. 2 for the band to set up under the bright lights of the pavilion, and they didn’t disappoint last year.
Need something refreshing after killing it on the dance floor? Rumor has it that ice cold margaritas will be served at on-site food trucks.

What hasn’t already been said about Dax Davis? Signed country musician, lyrical craftsman and doing it all before he could even finish his senior courseload at Slidell High School.
The kid will probably be killing it in Nashville by this time next year, but I get the feeling he lives to light up the Reunion crowd. The veteran pavilion performer goes up with his insanely talented backing band at 9 p.m. on Friday.
Oh, you thought that was it?
Stoney LaRue — yes, that Stoney LaRue — goes on stage at 11 p.m. after Dax Davis.
Look, I know he grew up in Oklahoma and you may take exception to that. But he’s certified Red Dirt royalty, cut from the same cloth as Jason Boland, Cody Canada and several others that shaped the sound of the Texas country music scene in the early 2000s.
Sneak in a midday nap or bring a case of Red Bull, because I have a feeling the crowd will know no curfew when Stoney’s in town.
Saturday, July 26
New to the stage as a unit, but not as individuals, local act Triplephonic is bringing four decades of covers and original music to the fairgrounds at 9 p.m. on Saturday to close out the week.
The band has described itself as “Bill Withers meets Zeppelin, with Stevie Ray in INXS.” I’m not quite sure what that means, but I know these dudes rock.
It’s your last night to savor the moment, so grab a chair, find a groove and let the sounds of Triplephonic take you away.
