Rhome under boil water noticeFree Access

City of Rhome water customers are under a boil water notice, the city announced Saturday.

The city is making repairs to a ground storage tank on Farm Road 3433 after a water leak was recently discovered. The repairs require the city to take the tank offline and drain it into an elevated storage tank.

“This means that during the repair process, homes in the area of Chisholm, The City of Aurora Fire Line and our wholesale customer, Texas Water, will be without water,” the city announced.

All customers should boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc.). Children, seniors and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions, the city wrote in its notice released Saturday.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, people may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

The city plans to take samples for testing on Monday with the results back on Tuesday. Once sample results are cleared, the boil water notice will be rescinded, the city stated. Customers will be notified via the Rhome Connect app, the city’s social media page and cityofrhome.com website.
