A mobile home in the Boonsville area was damaged in a structure fire in the 400 block of County Road 3737 Monday morning.
Responding units from Boonsville-Balsora Fire Department (Wise County ESD No. 2) initiated an interior attack on the blaze, which helped spare the residence, after noting heavy smoke pouring from the right side of the home.
“We got our guys inside within 14 minutes of initial dispatch,” said Wise County ESD No. 2 Chief J.D. Goodwin. “It was pretty crowded, but we made a push on the interior while also attacking the fire through a window. We were able to save around 50 to 60 percent of the house, which ain’t bad for a double-wide.”

The fire was reported shortly after 11 a.m. by a neighbor, who offered an early assist in the containment effort by using a hose from his house. The occupants of the home were at work at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries, Goodwin confirmed.
The fire appeared to be centered around some of the bedrooms in the residence, the fire chief said. By around noon, crews transitioned to “mop-up duty” with the structure fire essentially out.
Wise County ESD No. 2 crews were joined by Parker County ESD No. 1 units, Bridgeport Fire, Runaway Bay Fire, Salt Creek Fire (Wise County ESD No. 3), Wise County EMS and the Wise County Fire Marshal’s office.
