A week off the gridiron has the Paradise Panthers refreshed and hungry for another league victory.
Holding the No. 2 spot in the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 3A Division I state rankings, Paradise (7-1, 4-0) returns to the gridiron to face Ponder 7 p.m. Friday at Lion Stadium.
Ponder (5-3, 2-3) has been one of the disappointing teams in 3AI this season. After starting the 2025 campaign at 4-0, the Lions have lost three out of their last four games following a 24-8 road loss to Peaster in Week 9.
Last season, the Panthers mauled the Lions 40-16 en route to their first district title win in program history.
Paradise outlasted Peaster in the Panthers’ last outing, earning a 21-15 home win over the Greyhounds Oct. 17.
A 18-yard fumble return by defensive lineman Beau Chenevert late in the fourth quarter was the dagger in the Panthers’ win.
Running back Luke Brown racked up 50 yards and one rushing touchdown on 12 carries, while running back Chase Harmon also broke the goal line on a 5-yard run.
Paradise quarterback Ayden Olalde completed nine of his 15 passing attempts for 91 yards, with one interception. His top target was wide receiver Logan Lampley, who grabbed three catches for 44 yards.
