Another candidate has thrown their hat in the ring for Texas House District 64, which includes all of Wise County and the northwest portion of Denton County.

Krum resident Lisa McEntire announced her bid for the Texas House in a press release via social media on Monday.

“We need a representative who can deliver conservative results for our community,” McEntire said in the press release. “I’ve spent my life fighting for property rights, small business, and local control — and I’m ready to bring that same fight to Austin.”

McEntire is the second candidate to announce their bid for HD 64 ahead of the March 2026 primary. Incumbent Andy Hopper (R-Decatur) launched his reelection campaign on June 23 on the heels of his first legislative session.

McEntire is a graduate of the University of North Texas and has built a career as a realtor in North Texas, the announcement said. She currently serves as the Texas Realtors political liaison to State Rep. Ben Bumgarner, and previously worked on conservative legislative priorities and tax policy through the Texas Realtors Taxation Policy Committee.

She serves on the Denton Central Appraisal District in Place 2 where she was elected in 2024. McEntire also represents the National Association of Realtors as the Federal Political Coordinator for U.S. Rep. Brandon Gill.

She is a former president of the Greater Denton/Wise County Association of Realtors and previously served as the chair of the organization’s Governmental Affairs Committee, the press release said.

According to her campaign website, McEntire’s priorities include:

  • Fight back against property tax increases and appraisal abuse
  • Defend our constitutional rights and conservative values
  • Support President Trump’s efforts to secure the border
  • Champion transparency and accountability in local and state government
  • Secure and protect our water supply
  • Protect our freedoms from government overreach
  • 100 percent pro-life and pro-second amendment

“In the legislature, I will stay laser-focused on cutting property taxes, standing with President Trump to secure our border, protecting the future of North Texas water, fighting for parents’ rights, and protecting our God-given freedoms,” she said in her campaign announcement. “It’s time we sent a conservative to Austin who listens to the people, stands beside President Trump, and will get the job done.”

The filing period for the March 2026 primary election opens on Nov. 8 and closes Dec. 8.
