Man indicted for aggravated kidnapping

A Runaway Bay man has been indicted for the first degree felony offense of aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon.

Tyson Chaz Coleman, 39, was also indicted on a second degree felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Both charges stem from an incident that happened in the early morning hours of Feb. 8 between Coleman and his girlfriend in Runaway Bay, according to the arrest affidavit in the case.

The victim told police she told Coleman she wanted to leave him, and Coleman became angry and pointed a rifle at her and her dog, the affidavit states.

“[Coleman] pointed the rifle at [the victim] and forced her to get into his vehicle,” the affidavit states. “[Coleman] hit [the victim] on her right shoulder with the barrel of the firearm. [Coleman] also hit the left side of [the victim’s] back, near her hip, with the buttstock of the firearm. Both strikes caused pain to [the victim.] As they were leaving the property, [Coleman] told [the victim] he was taking her where no one would hear her scream.”

After driving a short distance, Coleman got out of the car and began walking down the road. The victim then moved into the driver’s seat and fled the area, according to the affidavit.

The officer noted the victim had bruises under both eyes and a light bruise on the left side of her back, consistent with the victim’s version of the events.

Coleman remains in jail with total bond set at $50,000, according to Wise County Jail records.
