A 28-year-old man was critically injured Thursday in a Briar-area stabbing that reportedly involved members of the same work crew, according to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office.
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office and other first responder agencies were dispatched to the reported stabbing in the 7300 block of Briar Road at approximately 11:45 a.m.
“Upon arrival, deputies encountered a work crew that included a 28-year-old male who was suffering from multiple stab wounds,” Wise County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Eric Debus said.
A 19-year-old male from the same work crew was taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Debus added. The initial information provided by the sheriff’s office did not include the names of either the suspect or the victim.
Air Evac Lifeteam 68 flew the patient from the scene to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. Wise County EMS Chief Randall Preuninger said the man was in critical condition.
Wise County EMS Squad-1 and Medic-3, as well as personnel from Wise County ESD No. 1 also responded to the scene near the Wise-Tarrant county line.
“The investigation is ongoing and will be updated when possible,” Debus concluded in the WCSO statement.
