Gibson named Paradise ISD lone finalist

Paradise ISD didn’t have to look far to find its next top administrator — someone who is already a familiar face in the district.

Assistant superintendent Robyn Gibson was named the lone finalist for the Paradise ISD superintendent position on Tuesday morning at a special school board meeting.

The Paradise ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to name her as the next superintendent after a closed session discussion that lasted about 20 minutes.

Gibson’s contract will begin following the state-mandated 21-day waiting period between naming a lone finalist and a formal hire.

“I am truly honored to be named as the lone finalist superintendent of Paradise ISD,” Gibson said. “This district has a strong tradition of excellence and community pride, and I look forward to serving alongside our dedicated educators, staff, students and families to build an even brighter future together.”

Gibson served as Paradise ISD’s acting superintendent since May 31. She took over the top administrator position following the departure of former superintendent Will Brewer, who took the same job at Jim Ned CISD after 2 1/2 years in Paradise.

Dr. Shannon Caddell, Paradise ISD school board president, said that the board viewed Gibson as the clear choice for the position.

“With her experience and mentorship under Mr. Brewer, we have the full confidence she’ll be able to not only carry on the new high school building project, but all of the goals of the district,” he said. “I know she’ll continue to strive to make Paradise ISD the best it can be.”

Gibson is in her 29th year of education, with the last 12 spent in Paradise. She has also held administrator positions in Bridgeport and Keller ISDs.

The board of trustees and Gibson will now begin searching for a candidate to fill the assistant superintendent position. Gibson said the job will be open to both internal and external candidates, with a goal of hiring someone before the beginning of the 2025-26 school year.
