Decatur ISD has grown significantly since its first day of school, according to a report from Superintendent Taylor Williams at Monday’s school board meeting.
“Our enrollment is up around 200 students from the start of the school year, so that’s definitely a benefit to our budget,” Williams said. “And our attendance has been above 95 percent as well, which is also a huge win for both learning and from a financial lens.”
On Aug. 6, 3,655 students were enrolled at Decatur ISD. As of Wednesday, DISD’s enrollment was at 3,823 students, Williams confirmed.
McCarroll Middle School saw the most significant increase, with the addition of 44 students since August. The fluctuation from first day enrollment is relatively normal. Decatur’s enrollment at the end of the last school year was 3,802.
In her presentation Monday night, Williams said the district is also undergoing an internal program audit across all departments.
“We’re looking at the money we’re spending for different agreements and services to make sure we’re not double paying for anything and see if we can streamline some of those to also cut costs,” she said.
The board also approved targeted improvement plans for Carson and Rann elementary schools.
