
Decatur swimmer Caleb McKee claimed four gold medals at the Decatur Senior Night Meet Dec. 17 at Fit-N-Wise. The Decatur swim program defended its home waters and racked up a total of 41 medals to close out its regular season schedule at the Decatur Senior Night meet Dec. 17 at Fit-N-Wise.
Leading the program’s overall count, the Eagles finished with 21 medals — 10 golds, six silvers and five bronzes.
Caleb McKee — a two-time state qualifier — was the program’s top male swimmer. He secured individual wins in the 100 butterfly (59.02) and 200 freestyle (1:59.67), and climbed to the top of the podium in the 200 medley relay (1:54.55) with Ace Maxfield, Joseph Delgado and Hagan Aaberg and the 400 freestyle relay (4:36.73) with Grant Arthur, Colt Kline and Kaden Escobar.
Maxfield finished with three additional gold medals. He won individual titles in the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.80 and swam 56.24 in the 100 freestyle, and teamed up with Max Vanderveer, Landon Carpenter and Kline to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:47.16.
Carpenter and Arthur took home wins in the 100 backstroke (1:15.15) and 50 freestyle (25.04), respectively. Jace Dudley turned in a first-place time of 8:38.51 in the 500 freestyle.
Max Vanderveer earned three silver medals. He turned in second-place swims in the 50 freestyle (25.65) and 100 butterfly (1:02.89), and clocked 1:54.87 with teammates Preston Dollins, Arthur and Carpenter in the 200 medley relay.
Dollins took second in the 200 freestyle in 2:04.68. Aaberg and Delgado were silver medalists in the 100 freestyle (58.79) and 100 breaststroke (1:20.06), respectively.
Escobar grabbed a pair of third-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (2:13.21) and 100 freestyle (59.58). Arthur (100 butterfly, 1:05.48), Kline (100 breaststroke, 1:21.73) and Delgado (50 freestyle, 26.31) also earned bronze medals.

Decatur swimmer Kylee Barthold took home four gold medals from Decatur’s Senior Night meet Dec. 17 at Fit-N-Wise. In the girls division, the Lady Eagles totaled 20 medals — nine golds, six silvers and five bronzes.
Kylee Barthold was unstoppable in the water on her run to four gold medals. She claimed individual wins in the 100 butterfly (1:09.21) and 200 freestyle (2:11.41), and guided Decatur to victories in the 200 freestyle relay (1:51.54) with Zoey Burkhart, Laynee Ballou and Kady Martinez, and the 200 medley relay (2:07.81) with Burkhart, Jaci Oldenkamp and Brooklyn Albaugh.
Burkhart and Martinez also brought back individual gold medals, winning the 100 breaststroke (1:17.31) and 50 freestyle (28.37). Burkhart also turned in a time of 1:09.63 to place second in the 100 butterfly, while Martinez was third in the 200 freestyle in 2:20.29.
Liberty Dollins swam away with two wins. She clocked 1:09.22 to take gold in the 100 backstroke, and was the first leg of the Lady Eagles’ first-place 400 freestyle team (4:34.92) with Jade Ortiz, Angelica Kruder and Albaugh.
Bylee Swink picked up a gold medal in the 500 freestyle in 7:52.16.
Adding a pair of silver medals to her haul, Ballou placed second in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 medley relay with Dollins, Martinez and Bianca Baires, clocking 1:17.54 and 2:08.62, respectively. Ballou also grabbed a bronze medal in the 100 butterfly (1:10.02).
Jaci Oldenkamp finished with two additional medals, securing silver in the 100 freestyle (1:17.54) and bronze in the 100 backstroke (1:13.61).
Albaugh (50 freestyle, 29.07) and Ava Parker (500 freestyle, 8:38.51) also secured second-place finishes.
Ortiz swam 1:32.26 for a bronze medal in the 100 breaststroke. She tacked on a third-place relay performance in the 200 freestyle relay with Baires, Parker and Kruder in 2:11.85.

Boyd’s Libby Vaughan also competed at the Decatur Senior Night meet, and earned two medals. She was a silver medalist in the 100 backstroke (1:11.45), and added a bronze in the 100 freestyle (1:03.04).
Decatur and Boyd will compete at the District 4-4A championships Saturday, Jan. 17 at Fit-N-Wise.
