Winter Storm Fern blanketed Wise County with ice and snow Saturday and Sunday, forcing local entities to adjust their schedules due to safety concerns.
Announced changes include:
- Wise County offices — Wise County governmental offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday. The Commissioners Court meeting will be postponed to 8 a.m. Wednesday, weather permitting.
- City of Decatur — City Hall and other public facing city operations will be closed Monday and Tuesday, including municipal court processes. Departments that provide essential services will continue to operate as directed by supervisors. The City Council meeting has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday.
- City of Bridgeport — All city administrative offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday. The City Council meeting remains scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday.
- City of Boyd — Municipal Office will be closed Monday and Tuesday.
- City of Paradise — City Hall is closed Monday and Tuesday. During a brief meeting Monday night, city council members voted to postpone their scheduled meeting at a later date.
- City of Alvord — City Hall will be closed Monday and Tuesday, and will reopen at 7 a.m. Wednesday.
- City of New Fairview — City Hall will be closed Monday and Tuesday. All previously scheduled municipal court appearances will be rescheduled, and extended due dates on citations will be given.
- City of Rhome — City Hall administrative offices closed Monday and Tuesday. Staff from City will continue to be in touch with emergency services team members on the road conditions, water supply, and accident responses.
The National Weather Service has issued an extreme cold weather warning through 9 a.m. Tuesday.
