KINGSLAND — When Bridgeport won its first state golf title in 2024, coach Alan Green kept getting one question: Do you think they can do it again?
The Bulls answered that emphatically Tuesday on the hills of Legends Golf Course, with four golfers finishing in the top 15 to win the 2025 4A UIL state tournament by 27 strokes.
The dominant team performance was led by podium finishes from sophomore Aiden Green and senior Brady Mann. The team’s two-day, championship-winning total was 590. Andrews finished second at 617, followed by Mabank at 624.
All eyes in 4A Texas golf have been on Bridgeport since May of last year, when a group of freshmen and juniors claimed the program’s first title. Since then, the team has lived up to great expectations, winning district, region and now, consecutive state titles.
“They handled [the expectations] like champions,” Coach Green said, after leading a third Bridgeport team to state glory—his first coming as Bridgeport’s basketball coach in 2015. “We talked a lot about not forgetting who we are. I love watching our kids go about their business on the golf course. They do it in a way you don’t see from many 4A golfers. It sets us apart. We wanted the expectations. We wanted to be the best. Everybody wants it easy. It shouldn’t be easy. I think how this team handled the expectations speaks to who they are.”

After starting the final round three shots off the lead, sophomore Aiden Green surged up the leaderboard to win the individual state title at 2-under (73-69—142). Senior teammate Brady Mann closed his high school career with a third-place finish. His 71-74—145 tied for second, but he lost a one-hole playoff to Kyle Doolittle of Davenport.
Tuesday’s final round was delayed by thunderstorms and a tornado watch in the area — an ominous start to a championship day.
If play hadn’t resumed by 2:30 p.m., UIL officials planned to determine winners based on first-round scores, which would have secured Bridgeport’s title.
“No one wanted that,” sophomore Colten Paradise said. “We wanted to play. A championship shouldn’t come down to just 18 holes. We wanted 36, and a shot to move up the leaderboard individually, too.”
After the delay, play resumed at 1 p.m. The team’s successful title defense didn’t include much defense.
“The term ‘defending a title’ didn’t sit right with me,” Coach Green said. “You defend on your heels. We wanted to attack whatever we were doing—we wanted to be the aggressor.”
Despite final-round jitters marinating for five extra hours, Bridgeport stormed out of the gates — just like Monday, when they built a 13-stroke lead. Bridgeport went 7-under through the first six holes, erasing any lingering doubts about the outcome. The only question was the final margin.
“I think those starts speak to the players being really good at golf,” Coach Green said. “But the back nine is where the battles were, and where we won the overall war.”

Mann led the early charge.
After missing the green to open the final round, he drained a 15-foot birdie putt from the fringe to himself in a tie for the lead. The birdie immediately put Bridgeport on offense, and perhaps rattled the tournament leader from Andrews who had a higher-percentage look after sticking his approach within eight feet, only to settle for par.
He birdied the fifth to reach 3-under. On another day, he might have won it all with his form, which recently brought him a regional tournament win. But ahead of him, Aiden Green was catching fire.
The lanky sophomore drained a pair of 30-foot and 60-foot putts early. He was 5-under through the first 10 holes. Then, he closed like a seasoned veteran, confidently navigating past each back-nine landmine that has a habit of turning state championship dreams into nightmares.

Mann’s first hiccup of the day, a bogey on No. 6, was actually a relief. His drive drifted right and bounced past out-of-bounds stakes. He took his medicine, hit a provisional and nearly reached the green with a flushed four-iron, getting up and down to salvage a bogey. Still, the next four holes were a grind, with three straight bogeys.
He didn’t let the stretch define his day. Mann went 2-under on the next five holes, threatening Green for the title as he closed the back nine at 1-over to tie for second.

Midwestern State signee Collin Moody also delivered. Despite a quintuple bogey in the first round, he rallied with a 35 on the back nine. He avoided big mistakes in the final round, capping his Bridgeport career with a birdie to finish ninth overall at 150 (76-74).
Moody said the team’s quick starts and comfort under pressure was a product of years of intense qualifying rounds where six great players — he, Mann, Zach Kehoe, Cason Lanfear, Colten Paradise and Aiden Green — competed for five first-team spots. And that mental strength came up big, both in 2024 and 2025.
“The front nine and back nine are like two different courses,” Moody said. “The front is more open and friendly. The back is tighter, and it can take it to you.”
Coach Green said Mann and Moody once again brought a competitive foundation that has been a mainstay for the team for the last four years.
“Good players contend sometimes. Great players are in it every week,” he said. “Brady and Collin are great players. Over the last two years, they were consistently in contention. That leadership gave us a boost. When opponents dropped their bags on the tee box and saw those two respected seniors across from them, it solved problems you can’t measure.”

Sophomore Colten Paradise took 15th (75-78—153). The district tournament champ showed early potential with two birdies, but battled wayward tee shots with creative escapes to stay in the 70s and in the top 20.
Zach Kehoe, the 4A state silver medalist in 2024, finished 37th (78-84—162). He played a key role in Monday’s charge. On No. 1, he holed out a 58-degree wedge from 90 yards for a rare par-4 eagle. He struggled uncharacteristically on the back nine in spots, with a quintuple bogey on No. 13 and a quadruple on the 253-yard par-3 No. 15, which derailed otherwise competitive play from senior who has been key to Bridgeport’s success.
While disappointed with his play, he was proud to be a part of a special group of players who brought some pride, joy and state championship trophies to Bridgeport.
“It’s been awesome. I didn’t have my best stuff, but when I look at that leaderboard, I was just reminded of how lucky I am,” Kehoe said. “I’m lucky to be a part of this.”

Kehoe and the rest of the senior class logged 21 rounds at Legends across three state appearances. They were once the up-and-comers who raised the bar. In 2024 and 2025, they became the leaders of championship teams.
Coach Green emphasized the contributions of every senior, even those whose scores didn’t factor into the standings Tuesday. One is Cason Lanfear, who was actively motivating his teammates and helping where he could during the tournament, also providing competition in practice that brought out the elite form of the team.
“Zach—you won’t meet a better kid. He’s a gamer and works hard. He’s been huge for us since the beginning,” Green said. “And Cason, he showed up every day and worked. Even though he wasn’t in the final five, he added to our culture. When you have good kids who want to be around each other, great things happen. Cason is that heart and character. He’s a state champion.”
The coach was still digesting on the events of the last few days and last few years — the personal joy of watching his son win the tournament and a more broad pride in the team’s greatness, on and off the course — while driving back to Bridgeport late Tuesday night.
He said he’s been blessed by great people who happen to be great golfers, as well as the support system in Bridgeport, that made these titles possible.

“People throw around the word special loosely. But this is a special group. You don’t do this, put up with the expectations for a year, and go back-to-back, doing it the way that they did, if they’re not truly special,” Coach Green said. “I’ll look back with a lot of pride for them. And the support that they have, family-wise, friend-wise. We had a huge following down there. That meant a lot to me and that meant a lot to the boys. We fed off that energy. Not just from the family and friends that were there, but the people back home. We’re really proud to represent Bridgeport. And looking back, I’ll remember these players and how special they are, but also how special it is at home.”
