After suffering a 1-goal loss in their first meeting earlier this month, the Bridgeport Bulls got their revenge against the Decatur Eagles Tuesday night.

Tied at 2 at halftime, Bridgeport (14-3, 5-1) outscored Decatur (12-1-2, 5-1) 2-1 in the second half, as the Bulls escaped Eagle Stadium with a 4-3 win and handed the Eagles their first loss of the season.

The win was the first Big Sandy victory for the Bulls since a 6-2 win over the Eagles Feb. 13, 2023, and was the first for Bridgeport coach Brandon Medrano, who took over the program last summer

“Winning an old school rivalry game is always big,” Medrano said. “Those types of games mean a lot more. For the players, it means a lot in terms of bragging rights between friends that they get to tease them about until next year. I’m happy for the team — they’ve been working really hard, and it’s a good feeling to know their hard work is starting to show.”

Jared Contreras was the Bulls’ scoring leader, kicking in both of Bridgeport’s goals in the first half, and adding another score in the final 40 minutes. Xxavier Garza finished with a solo goal.

For the Eagles, Adrian Sanchez recorded a pair of goals in the loss, while Jorge Munoz added a solo score.

Bridgeport faces Burkburnett 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bull Memorial Stadium following their second-round bye on Friday.
