With a combined haul of 17 medals, the Alvord Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs climbed their way of the team standings at the Muenster meet last week.
The Bulldogs scored 51 points to win the boys title, grabbing a total of eight medals. Alvord outscored runner-up Nocona by 9, while Muenster scored 38 for third.
Alvord claimed six class titles — Carlos Hernandez (114 class, 795 pounds); Michael Slimp (165 class, 920 pounds); Collin Mann (181 class, 1,180 pounds); Jaxan Simmons (242 class, 1,370 pounds); Davis Kwasny (308 class, 1,405 pounds) and Ronyn Brady (SHW class, 975 pounds).
Noah Riley (740 pounds) and Chris Castro-Torres (825 pounds) were silver medalists in the 123 and 165 classes, respectively.
The Chico Dragons also competed at the Muenster meet, placing sixth (10) behind Alvord, Nocona, Muenster, Bowie and Henrietta Midway.
Karrington Ransom was the top Dragon lifter, snagging silver in the 308 class with 1,320 pounds — 85 behind Kwasny. Jaxon Sherrod lifted 1,100 pounds in the 242 class for a third-place finish.
In the girls division, Alvord overwhelmed the competition with nine medals, and took the team title with 50 points. Henrietta Midway finished second with 21 — 1 ahead of third-place Chico (20).
The Lady Bulldogs’ Brinlee Lockett (500 pounds), Joyce Perez (625 pounds) and Callie Cannon (620) lifted their way to gold medals in the 123, 132 and 165 classes, respectively.
Alvord’s silver medalists were Cambrie Peoples (105 class, 445 pounds), Molly Compton (148 class, 540 pounds), Angelica Martinez (165 class, 570 pounds) and Addison Christensen (181 class, 640 pounds).
Kelcey Rivera (97 class, 325 pounds) and Abigail Reta (181 class, 575 pounds) rounded out the Lady Bulldogs’ medal count with bronze medals.
Chico’s Brylee Wright led the Lady Dragons by winning the 97 class with 430 pounds.
Lexi Davis and August Hillary clinched silver medals with 500-pound lifts in the 123 and 220 classes. Chloe Perez added a bronze by hoisting 500 pounds in the 132 class.
Alvord and Chico’s teams will compete at the Alvord meet Monday at Alvord High School.
