Several community organizations have stepped up to help Meals on Wheels Wise County. The Wise County Committee on Aging program that delivers free meals to homebound seniors is feeling financial pressure from a recent cut to a federal grant program. Over the last few weeks, the organization has seen more than $10,000 in donations.
Decatur’s Episcopal Church of the Resurrection donated $5,000. Bridgeport Masonic Lodge donated $1,000. Kingdom Hoops and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal donated $5,000. Bridgeport Pleasant View church donated $500 recently, too.

In other donation business, Victory Church donated $2,500 to support equipment needs for the new Wise County EMS station in Alvord. Wise County Judge J.D. Clark, who received the donation during the service, thanked the church for their support. The new station recently went out for bids and construction is expected to begin soon.
