The Wise County Youth Fair — a livestock and agriculture staple in the community for more than 70 years — is back, bringing together students, families, ag teachers, county extension agents and officials for the long-standing tradition.

Here’s this year’s schedule of shows and events.

2026 WISE COUNTY YOUTH FAIR SCHEDULE

Thursday, February 26

8:00 am – 4:30 pm

  • 4-H Photography entries due (AgriLife Extension Office)

8:30 am

  • Horse Speed Events — NRS Arena

5:00 pm

  • 4-H Photography Judging


Friday, February 27

6:30 am

  • Horse Performance Events (check registration papers) — NRS Arena

8:30 am

  • Horse Show — NRS Arena


Monday, March 2

7:30 – 10:00 am

  • Arrival of: 4-H Foods & Crafts, FCCLA Foods & Crafts, Horticulture

10:00 am

  • Public Speaking — Decatur Church of Christ
    (Arrive by 9:30 am for check-in)

10:30 am

  • FCCLA Food & Crafts Judged

  • 4-H Food & Crafts Judged

  • Horticulture Judged

4:00 – 6:00 pm

  • Viewing: 4-H, FCCLA & Horticulture


Tuesday, March 3

  • Arrival: Breeding Dairy Goats & Longhorn Cattle
    (Check papers; in place by 10:00 am)

  • Breeding Swine (in place by 3:00 pm)

8:00 – 10:00 am

  • Arrival of Rabbits

9:00 am – 2:30 pm

  • Viewing: 4-H, FCCLA & Horticulture

10:00 am

  • Breeding Dairy Goat Show (released following show)

10:00 am – 12:00 pm

  • Rabbit Weigh-In

11:00 am – 2:00 pm

  • Rabbit Breed ID Contest

1:00 pm

  • Meat Pen Rabbits Judged (released following show)

  • Breeding Rabbits (released following show)

  • Longhorn Show (steers followed by heifers; released following show)

2:30 – 4:30 pm

  • Release: 4-H Food, Crafts, Clothing & Photography

  • 4-H Clothing Interviews (AgriLife Extension Office; schedule in advance)

  • Arrival of Broilers (in place & wing band cards submitted by 8:30 am)

  • Breeding Poultry

  • Arrival: Market Lambs & Market Wethers (in place by 1:00 pm)

  • Arrival: Market Swine (in place by 2:00 pm)

  • Arrival: Market Steers (in place by 3:00 pm)

  • Breeding Beef Heifers (in place by Thursday, 5:00 pm)

  • Broiler Show (released following show)

  • Scramble Heifer Show (begins 30 minutes after Market Steer Show)
