CITIES LOOK TO FORM REGIONAL WATER AUTHORITY — Boyd, Aurora, New Fairview and Rhome are working toward forming their own regional water authority. The cities are considering resolutions that would, in part, help fund the services of an attorney who can represent the coalition of South Wise cities to potentially establish a water authority. “This is a potential longterm solution to bring water into the area,” said New Fairview City Administrator John Cabrales. The four cities are either scheduled to take action on the item soon or have already OK’d the measure. The resolution will then come before Wise County Commissioners Court. Wise County Judge J.D. Clark briefed the court about the development Monday. “The cities have recognized as a coalition that they will need to hire a water attorney,” Clark said. “They each have their own city attorneys, but water is so tricky and specialized, so they are wanting to hire a water attorney for their coalition to explore the next steps.”
