BODY FOUND IN FIELD IDENTIFIED AS BRIDGEPORT MAN — The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identity of a missing person who was found dead in a field near Bridgeport last weekend. On Thursday, Bridgeport Police Chief Steve Stanford said the person was positively identified as Roy Sanchez, 38, of Bridgeport. Sanchez was reported missing to the Bridgeport Police Department March 10. A rancher located the body in his field off of Cuba Road Saturday. The rancher noticed potential remains weeks before, but initially suspected an animal died in the field. When he was finally able to access the field, he called the police. Stanford said there are no signs of foul play, adding that toxicology and other tests from the medical examiner are pending. The case is the second time a missing person has been found dead in Wise County in the span of a week. On March 30, the Wise County Sheriff’s Office reported the body of Billy Vaughn was located near the area he went missing Feb. 9. Vaughn was last seen in the Newark area. Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said no foul play is suspected at this time. The body was sent for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. Autopsy results are expected to be returned later in April, Akin said.
