ELECTION DAY IS SATURDAY — Vote in city and school elections Saturday. Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at four consolidated polling locations around the county. While most of those places are the regular consolidated locations, there is one significant change for voters in commissioner Precinct 2. Instead of the normal location of Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur, voting will instead take place at Chico City Hall due to scheduling issues at the church. Polling location by voting precinct: Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 22 — Wise County Court Office Building, 308 W. Main in Decatur (north entrance); Precincts 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 18 and 19 — Chico City Hall, 400 S. Hovey; Precincts 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 28 and 29 — Bridgeport Lions Hall, 1107 8th St.; Precincts 20, 23, 24, 25, 27 and 30 — Boyd Community Center, 420 E. Morton Ave.

Man accepts plea for role in crash


The driver of a vehicle involved in a serious December 2020 car wreck near Bridgeport pleaded guilty to intoxication assault earlier this week. Nipsar Sitan-Culajay, 23, entered his plea to the third degree felony charge of intoxication assault with a vehicle with serious bodily injury in 271st District Court in Decatur Monday and was sentenced to four years in prison.
