Update for Wednesday, April 27, 2022

NO BRICK MAILBOXES ON COUNTY ROADS — Wise County will double its efforts to enforce its subdivision rules and regulations against stone and brick mailboxes along county roads. In accepting its latest update to its subdivision rules Monday, which spells out mailboxes must be a minimum of 6 inches off the edge of the driving surface, the commissioners reaffirmed the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) guidelines, barring the stone and brick mailboxes. The county’s rules require only the breakaway posts in compliance with the Texas Department of Transportation rules. County engineer Chad Davis said the brick and stone mailboxes are a safety hazard for motorists.
