WHS DISCHARGES LAST COVID-19 PATIENT — Wise Health System reached a new milestone in the long battle against COVID-19 Monday. The lone COVID-19 positive patient was discharged from the hospital. “The last date our facility didn’t have a COVID patient was July 1, 2021,” said WHS Director of Communications and Marketing Shannon Spann. Statewide hospitalizations have also plummeted. As of Monday, there were 957 COVID-19 patients hospitalized statewide. In Trauma Service Area E, which includes Wise County and the Metroplex, 1.27 percent of hospitalizations were for the virus. Since March 2020, 269 COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the county.
