VIRUS CASES TOP 1,000 — Active COVID-19 case numbers in Wise County topped 1,000 for the first time this week as the hospital remains over capacity. As of Tuesday, the Texas Department of State Health Services reported 1,181 active cases in Wise County, up from 673 last Thursday. Two more local deaths have been reported since last week, bringing the total related to the virus to 219 since March 2020. Wise Health System reported 33 COVID-19 positive patients admitted for treatment as of Tuesday, an increase of 10 since last week. The med/surg/ICU capacity at WHS was at 104 percent Tuesday, nearly the same as the 105 percent capacity last week.
