COVID-19 CASES, HOSPITALIZATIONS INCREASE — Wise County’s COVID-19 active cases numbers have spiked to 607 as of yesterday according to the Department of State Health Services, a new high and increase of 312 cases from a week ago. Wise Health System reports med/surg/ICU capacity has risen to 105 percent. The hospital was treating 23 COVID-19-positive patients as of Wednesday. The trends mirror state and national trends of rising cases and hospitalizations due to the Omicron variant.
